 Newark/Lyons—Richard J. Hartranft, 69, passed away on June 27, 2026, at Newark Wayne Community Hospital. A private Mass in Die Obitus (mass for the dead) will be celebrated

       Memorials in his name may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284. 

Rich was born in Norfolk, VA on August 14, 1956.  He worked most of his life as a handyman.  In his spare time, he enjoyed mowing lawns and yardwork.  He also loved to fish. 

 He is survived by his parents Betty (Dr. Anthony) D’Amico and CMDR Richard (Karen) Hartranft; two sons Timothy (Amanda) and Brian (Jessica) Hartranft; four grandchildren; four sisters Debra Ryan, Sandra Yonker, Teresa Keifer, Adair Atkinson; four brothers Russell (Doreen), Michael (Marianne) Hartranft, Blaine (Aurora) and Anthony D'Amico; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother James in 2022.
