Baker, Kathryn Jean “Kay”

Lyons: Kathryn Jean Baker, known as “Jean” by her family and “Kay” by her friends, passed peacefully into Jesus’ arms at the age of 90 on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Bungalows Memory Care Facility in Fort Mill, SC.

Funeral services in Lyons, NY will be private along with a private Catholic Mass in her honor, which will be held near her home in South Carolina

Kay was born on March 3, 1935, the daughter of the late Anthony Perry and Mary Louise Fratangelo Perry. She was raised in Lyons, New York and attended Lyons Central School. She worked at Riegels in Newark, NY, EJ Barber Hospital in Lyons, NY, and Newark State School Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Services where she retired after 25 years. After retiring, she volunteered at Newark Wayne Community Hospital.

Kay was very creative. She enjoyed ceramics, baking, knitting/crocheting and sewing. She loved gardening and volunteered at Lyons Floral Shoppe making flower arrangements. She also loved providing care for relatives and friends. She was loving mother and grandmother and always said her children were her greatest accomplishments.

Kay is survived by her son, Jerry (Marie) Baker of Palm Harbor, FL; two daughters, Debi (Neil) McAllister of San Marcos, TX and Diane (Herb) Poston of Fort Mill, SC; two grandchildren, Kimberly Moens of Rochester, NY, and Matthew McAllister of San Marcos, TX; three step grandchildren, Christopher Poston of Raleigh, NC, Kyle Poston of White Sulphur Springs, WV, and Connor Poston of Holly Springs, NC; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence (Dorothy) Perry. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Perry; a nephew, Mark Perry; and a friend, Alan Avery.
