George W. Chase

Oaks Corners---George W. Chase left this world for the next one_on August 18,2026 at the age of 94.

In keeping with George’s wishes, all services will be held privately, at the convenience of his family.

George was born on February 23,1932 the son of the late John and Marian Fisher Chase. George was a member of the Oak Corners Presbyterian Church, belonged to the Future Farmers of America and a member of the Oaks Corners Fire Department. He graduated from Phelps Central School where he majored in agriculture and spent his life working in dairy and crop farming. When George decided to retire from farming, he purchased an excavator to keep busy; digging ditches, ponds, keeping the creeks open on the family farm and keeping all the brush in check. He was a school bus driver for the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School for 33 years, he drove 250,000 miles. After retirement from bus driving in 1987, he worked as a mechanic for the school district. George took up the game of golf at age 55. He spent 30 winters in Myrtle Beach, SC playing golf and enjoying the milder weather.

George is survived by his sister, Jeannine Phillips of Geneva, NY, nephew, Gregory(Mary Cheney) Phillips of Geneva, NY nieces, Cynthia (Steven) Costa of Jupiter, FL and Shawn Lingle of Atlanta, GA, several great nephews, their families, and his beloved best friend and golfing partner of 40 years, Jane Crosby. George is pre-deceased by his wife Joan and brother-in-law Kenneth Phillips.

The family wishes to thank the Clifton Springs Hospital (Emergency Room and Unit 1400) for their excellent compassionate care during his stays this last year.
