Cretin, Cyril W.
Lyons---Cyril W. Cretin, 92, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at home surrounded by family.
Friends may call from noon to 2PM on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., in Lyons. A funeral service will follow at 2 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2 PM on Saturday, September 5th, at St. Augustine Cemetery in Dysart, PA.
Cyril was born in Patton PA, on October 14, 1933, the son of the late Lawrence and Mary Catherine Baker Cretin. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1957-1959. For years he was a Sawyer at the Harold Smith Sawmill. When not at the Sawmill, he established himself as a farmer. His favorite hobby was flying; he earned his Pilot's License and flew every chance he had. The most important thing to him was his family, he cherished his time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
For those that knew him, Cyril’s life was one that was known for the important basics that he loved: farming, the sawmill, anything outdoors, helping others and most of all, the love for his family. Cyril was also known for his humor, quick wit and his ability to build and fix anything.
While we all looked forward to seeing his smile each year when he was able to mow his lawn, which he did into his 90’s, we will deeply miss hearing him talk about his life experiences, memories of his days while piloting planes, his time in Okinawa while serving in the military, as well as the knowledge he shared through his endless wisdom.
Cyril is survived by Timothy (Janet Slabaugh) Cretin, David (Chrystal) Cretin, Diane (John) Blair, Daniel (Amy) Cretin, and Theresa (Aaron Byork) Anselmo; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings Ada (Paul) Becker, Rose (Louis) Onorato, Lewis (Carol) Cretin and four infant siblings; his companion Hazel Washburn in 2023.
