John C. ”Jack” Frind, 93, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 while at home with his family by his side.
Friends and family may call Friday, (Jan8) 10am to 1pm at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons, where a funeral service will follow. Burial will be in South Lyons Cemetery with Military Honors.
Contributions may be made to the V.F.W Post 5092, 202 Geneva St., Lyons, NY, 14489 in John’s memory.
John was born October 19, 1922 in Lyons, NY, a son to the late Lewis F. and Lillian Rose Beston Frind. He worked for 28 years for the United States Postal Service in Lyons. He was a member of the American Legion and a Charter member of the V.F.W Post 5092 in Lyons. He was awarded two decorations, the Purple Heart and a European African Middle Eastern Theater Medal, while serving in the United States Army from 1943-1945. John loved spending time at Duck Lake, playing cribbage, bowling, and visiting the casino. Most important to him was his family.
Predeceased by his son, Robert Frind, brother, William Frind, a sister, Eunice Pearson.
He is survived by his wife, for 64 wonderful years, Ruth Frind of Lyons; daughters, Yvonne Vorie of CA, Denise (Les) Odit of Lyons; grandchildren, Brooke (Ray) McKeague of HI, Chad Vorie of CA, Blaire Vorie of CA, Nick Odit of Lyons, Jamie Odit (Jared Rice) of Newark, Sean Odit of Lyons and Kelly (Bryon) Wetmore of Newark; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Wilson of Watkins Glen; several nieces and nephews.
