Shirley Mae Niles, 80, was called to the Lord on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 with her family by her side.

Friends may call on Friday (Oct. 12th) from 2 until 4 PM at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St. in  Lyons, New York.  A celebration of life will follow the calling hours at the Lyons Rod & Gun Club.

Donations may be made in her name to Rochester General Hospital, Rochester General Oncology, Riedman Campus, 100 Kings Highway South, Suite 2300, Rochester, NY  14617.

Shirley was born on May 18, 1938 in Wolcott, the daughter of the  late Mary Mayette Bates and Raymond Reynolds.  She was a 1956 graduate of Sodus Central Schools.  On December 31, 1956, Shirley married the love of her life Ernest Niles.   Together they had five children and spent 50 years together until Ernie joined the Lord on August 11, 2006.  Over the years, Shirley worked as a telephone operator, a cashier at JJ Newberry's  and retired from Mobil Chemical.  In retirement she worked at School Specialties for several years.  She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Niles is survived by her five children, Ernest Niles Jr. of Penn Yan, Pamela Salerno of Newark, Amy (Rick) Preston of Lyons, Edward (Margaret Gould) Niles of Palmyra, Christine (Danny Thomas) Elliott of Lyons, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, 3 bonus grandchildren, 13 bonus great grandchildren, a sister Maresse (Robert) Walawender, special granddaughter Nikki Atkinson.  

She was predeceased by her parents, stepfather Theodore Bates, twin brother Charles, brothers Frank, William, Lester, Stanley and a sister Geniveve.
